Nexus 7 tablet front facing camera |
The Google Nexus 7 tablet only has a front facing
camera. People may find this unusual
since other tablets have a front and a back camera but bear in mind that the
Google Nexus 7 tab is at a much cheaper price than other tablets out
there. The reason why Asus, since they
make the Nexus 7 tablet, have not included a rear facing camera in the Nexus 7
tablet is to keep production costs to a minimum. They want to make the Nexus tablet available
to the widest market possible and the way to do that is with price.
The nexus 7 tablet camera albeit a front facing camera is a
1.2 mega pixel VGA camera. Weirdly
though there is no app for this out of the box so you will have to look on the
Play store and download a third party one which there are plenty of. The Nexus 7 front tablet camera is also cable
of 720p video recording; this makes the Nexus 7 camera ideal for face time
chats over the likes of Skype which is what a front facing camera is really for.
After testing video time chat on the Nexus 7 camera and the
iPad mini it was very difficult to separate the two tablets so the front facing
camera on the Nexus performs as equally well as its nearest rival, the Ipad
mini. We used the free Skype app for
this test available on the Play store.
The thing that is important here is tablet cameras aren’t
good they are there as a nice little feature for you to do video calls or take
the odd picture so I think that Asus has done a very clever thing here by
excluding a rear facing camera and producing a product at a price lower than its
main competition. How many people
actually use 1 camera on a tablet let alone 2?
The quality of the Nexus 7 tablet camera is good. Pretty much what you would expect, it does
nothing ground breaking but is perfect for video calls which is what it was designed
for. The images aren’t bad either for
only 1.2 mega pixels. If you really want
to take good pictures it is better to buy an actual camera (possibly with the
money saved from buying a Nexus 7 than the Ipad mini).
Hopefully you have enjoyed this article on the Nexus 7
tablet camera and found it useful if you are considering purchasing one.
